Ohhhh. It's been so long since I lasted posted. Been a little preoccupied with life. I've decided, though, that I'm going to try and be better at it. I'm not really writing in my journal, and should, so I will try and use this as my journaling session.
So much has happened in the last several months. We did another IFV cycle in CA, and we were, luckily, again successful. I'm so grateful. I know so many people who try and try and try again with no success. It's a huge expense as well as an emotional burden, so my heart always hurts when I hear of someone not having success at it, and I always celebrate the successes I hear about.
Our cycle ended up being very successful. Our Doctor transferred two blastocysts at day 5 and we anxiously awaited lab results and ultrasounds. Our first lab confirmed that I was, indeed, expecting. The ultrasound confirmed that both had implanted. We were so excited at the prospect of twins and gleefully called our family and friends to tell them the good news.
Another ultrasound about 3 weeks later, gave us a huge surprise. One of the embryos had split and we were expecting triplets. I cried. Travis sat in the chair and stared. This time the calls to family and friends were more subdued. We were shellshocked. Our news was met with a mixture of excitement, disbelief, and concern.
After a couple of weeks to get used to the idea of our newborns outnumbering us, we settled in to the idea and began to make a game plan. So many things have to change. We are working on them, but some of the things are out of our hands and seem to be moving very slowly. Now it's just something we accept. It's just a fact. We are having triplets. It won't be the end of the world. It will change it for a while, but in the best of ways.
