GraceAnn's first taste of cereal.

On Wednesday afternoon, Gracie had her four month check up with Dr. Twiggs. She weighs 13 lbs 6 oz and measures in at 25 1/2 inches. He says she's a tall average and healthy. She got a few shots while we were there that she didn't like, but otherwise a good visit. He said we could start giving her some solid foods, so Thursday I went and bought some rice cereal and got all geared up to give it to her that night.

She did not like it at all.

She held the bottle nipple in her mouth like it was a piece of slimy stinky fish and looked at me like I had lost my mind. "Are you sure you're supposed to give this to me?" I'm sure that's what she was thinking. Either that or, "Whose idea was this?"

Friday night we tried again and I ended up feeding it to her with a spoon. Tonight, thought, she ate it as fast as I could put it in her little birdie mouth. If I wasn't fast enough she got mad. I guess she likes it now. Funny kid.

First day on the blog.

I'm weak. I caved under peer pressure and have started a blog. Of course, I didn't do it because everyone else was and I hate doing what everyone else is doing.

And then, I changed my mind.

This afternoon while we were painting our purple bedroom back to white-Travis is so happy-GraceAnn started blowing bubbles while she watched us work. I grabbed the camera and started filming her and thought that this would be a great way for everyone, especially Grandma and Grandpa, to see her grow and change.

So, hear it is. Our blog. Named Desert Rats because that's what we are. Darn it. Travis and I argue all the time about whether Gracie will be a desert rat or a mountain goat. I personally would rather her be a beach bum, because that's what I want to be.

So hope you enjoy the postings. Don't expect many because by next week I might have forgotten I started this thing.
